We Meet Again Slay the Psire
[ Birds | Neow | Ranwid & Spireblight | Automatons | The Architect | Kublai the Not bad ]
Hey everyone, it's u/Bored-At-Piece of work once more. My whale watching post is going strong so I figured its fourth dimension to give in to popular demand and do a mail about donut-shaped automatons. Ha ha just kidding nobody wants that. Let's talk about that goofball that keeps running into actor characters, Ranwid. Why him, though? Ranwid is a major in game link to many aspects of the lore. They aren't all huge links, but his marvel is a starting bespeak for going into deeper secrets.
I know you lot don't remember, but earlier you terminal died I loaned yous 500 gold. I, uh, need it back
Result: We Run into Again!
"Nosotros meet over again!"
A cheery disheveled beau approaches yous gleefully. You do not know this man.
"It'due south me, Ranwid! Have any appurtenances for me today? The usual? A fella like me tin't make it alone, y'all know?
Y'all middle him suspiciously and consider your options...
[...Card]
Ranwid: "Exemplary! I shall study this further in my chambers."
Ranwid isn't just a random denizen of the Spire, he is a researcher. He has a dedicated lab and the player can fifty-fifty visit it and take the results of some of his enquiry. Poison potion carry through an elite fight? Thank Ranwid and his creepy mouse in a jar. It seems like he's studied plenty to make all sorts of remedies! Ignore all those potions he takes from you to investigate, those are from the other potion sellers - corporate hacks! Ranwid cares about the people, non profit. You won't find him in his lab. He's out in the field, studying EVERYTHING or giving the results to his friend, the merchant, to distribute.
At least wipe the slime off your shoes before you lot steal my life'southward work
Event: Lab
You find yourself in a room filled with racks of test tubes, beakers, flasks, forceps, pinch clamps, stirring rods, tongs, goggles, funnels, pipets, cylinders, condensers, and fifty-fifty a rare screw tube of glass.
Why do you know the name of all these tools? It doesn't thing, you lot have a wait around.
The Specimen: "Fascinating! I found a mutated creature demonstrating astounding toxic properties. Storing a sample for later examination." - Ranwid
Toxic Egg: "What a marvelous discovery! This appears to exist the inert egg of some magical creature. Who or what created this?" - Ranwid
Empty Muzzle: "How unusual to cage that which you lot worship" -Ranwid
Fossilized Helix: Seemingly indestructible, you wonder what kind of creature this belonged to.
Snecko Skull: A snecko skull in pristine condition. Mysteriously make clean and shine, dirt and grime fall off inexplicably.
Preserved Insect: The insect seems to create a shrinking aura that targets particularly large enemies.
Medical Kit: "Has everything you need! Anti-crawling, anti-burn, anti-venom, and more!"
A slap-up deal of relics in this game are preserved specimens of one sort or another for report, many have scientific notes attached to them from Ranwid, while some are both. These enquiry subjects are both flora and fauna of the Spire, simply Ranwid is a very curious fellow and studies everything he can interact with scientifically, including the automated and spiritual. Ranwid certainly didn't make the Automatons simply he may have a greater agreement of them than most others that live. How can a machine be tricked? At that place is certainly more to these things than meets to the eye!
"Interesting! Even automatons are affected by placebo." -Ranwid
"Virtually curious! It appears to form itself loosely on my thoughts! Tele-clay?" - Ranwid
Randwid's idle curiosity changes into a more directly emergency report, though. You encounter, the City is running into a problem and that trouble'due south name is Spireblight! Crops no longer grow and those that do abound are corrupted or consumed by parasites. Why are random fruits considered relics? Why is a pear and then rare? 320 gold for a Mango? You're kidding me. Fruits don't grow here anymore so they are that import delicacy, or perhaps constitute in hidden storage caches/hordes.
Strawberry: "Succulent! Haven't seen any of these since the blight." - Ranwid
Pear: A common fruit earlier the Spireblight.
Mango: The about coveted forgotten fruit. Impeccably preserved with no signs of Spireblight.
Before this mail I didn't really have a practiced idea of what the Sozu boss relic was actually supposed to be. It's the bamboo stick on a fulcrum post yous see in Japanese gardens. Information technology acted as a noise deterrent to scare abroad animals and bad spirits from gardens. Continual pouring water from a fountain is how it tin can operate automated. I estimate that'due south where all those potions get! This existing in game seems to exist how farmers are trying to scare off the blight.
Sozu: You notice that magical liquids seem to lose their properties when near this relic.
Oooh... that'southward what it is
